To create a macro in Excel 2016, you can follow these steps:

1. Click on the View tab in the Excel ribbon.
2. Next, click on the Macros button on the right side of the View ribbon.
3. This will open the Macros drop-down. Click Record Macro.
4. Enter a name for your macro, something like Hide_Columns.
5. Perform the actions you want to automate, such as entering boilerplate text or filling down a column of data.
