Here are the steps to make a coffee table:

1. Cut boards for the top. Use a table saw or hand saw to cut boards to the length you would like your coffee table to be. 32 inches (81 cm) is a good length to try, if you’re not sure what size to make it.
2. Piece the top together. Arrange the boards in a way that looks good to you. You can alternate the direction of the wood grain or use different types of wood for a more interesting look.
3. Secure the top. Once you have arranged the boards in a way that looks good to you, use wood glue and clamps to secure them together.
4. Add sides (an apron), if you like. Cut four pieces of wood that will be attached to the underside of the table top and will hold the legs in place.
5. Cut the pieces for the legs. Cut four pieces of wood that will be used for the legs of your coffee table.
6. Piece the legs together. Use wood glue and screws to attach two pieces of wood together for each leg.
7. Stain or paint your coffee table pieces. Choose a stain or paint color that complements your decor.
8. Attach the legs to the top. Use screws to attach each leg to one of the apron pieces.
