Here are the steps to install a tub spout:

1. Determine the spout type and be sure to replace it with the same style.
2. Remove the old spout. The spout is attached to a pipe via friction and a set screw, or by threads.
3. Install the new spout.
4. If installing on a tile wall, drill holes in the tile to accommodate the screws.
5. Turning clockwise, apply 6 to 8 turns of the Pipe Thread Tape to the threads on the male end of Extension Nipple.
6. Turning clockwise, tighten the new spout onto the Extension Nipple.
7. Turn water on and test for leaks. If water is leaking from the rear of the Tub Spout, reinstall, as this could damage your wall.
